fellow browncoats, if you didn't hear, joss whedon has a new show called "dollhouse", starring eliza dushku, in the wings. i got this from tvguide.com:

Question: I'm dying for more Dollhouse scoop! BTW, I loved the story you and Ben Katner did pitching actors for the show.— Kacey
Ausiello: I'll be curious to see if Joss takes any of our suggestions. I'm sure it's a long shot, especially in light of what he told me back in November when Dollhouse was just announced. "My first instinct is to probably [cast] new people [in Dollhouse], because I'm already reuniting with Eliza and I don't want it to seem like a house party," he said. "I want to make sure people get a fresh feeling from it. But behind the scenes, I will be chasing many writers that I have worked with before because they're the people I trust." Hence Whedon's decision to snap up former Angel scribes Elizabeth Craft and Sarah Fain the moment they parted ways with Women's Murder Club.

Question: More Dollhouse scoopage, please! — Mario
Ausiello: Interested in reading the just-released, official show description? No? Too bad, 'cause here it is: "A group of people, known as 'Actives' (or 'Dolls'), have had their personalities wiped clean so they can be imprinted with any number of new personas and hired out for particular jobs, crimes, fantasies and occasional good deeds. When not imprinted, the Actives live, childlike and unremembering, in a hidden facility nicknamed 'The Dollhouse.' Although the Actives are ostensibly volunteers, the operation is highly illegal, and under constant threat from a determined federal agent on one end and an insane rogue Active on the other. The story hinges around a greater and more subtle threat: Echo, a female Active, begins, in her mind-wiped state, to become self-aware."

sounds so. very. cool.

So I've created a Buffverse discussion Group as part of the larger Tribe Refugees network:
Buffverse 2: http://triberefugees.ning.com/group/buffyverse
Tribe Refugees: http://triberefugees.ning.com/

You need to first signup for the site (Tribe Refugees), then join the Group (Buffyverse -- which is just a matter of clicking the Join Now link).
If you want more info on what Tribe Refugees is see this listing here: http://tucson.tribe.net/listing/join-me-on-Tribe-Refugees-/tucson-az/a4eeacf0-e601-41e8-9fed-d73c90c9a672

The site/group was intended to support this tribe, NOT compete or detract from it. I just thought you guys might like to know about it so you can bookmark it, or signup to squat your space, or participate. :)

I only spotted a few of those, most of the crowd was normal and there were quite a few other newbies.

It was a kick. The crowd would shout "bite me" when Spike came on screen, and "shut up, Dawn!" when Dawn would. They waved tissues during Giles song, blue bubbles during Tara's. There was a costume contest, including a guy with an eyepatch as Xander and a Faith that had the mannerisms down.

So considering how much you can get emotionally hooked into the characters, it was a hard road watching Willow go postal and turn on her friends after Tara was killed. And I have to say that being skinned before you're destroyed must be one of the nastiest ways to go ever!

I did think Giles showing up when he did was kind of dorky and/or forced, but seeing Spike gearing up to go rampaging has me totally intrigued with what the next episodes are going to unleash!

And I'm glad they got rid of the geeks.

Greetings all~

I have to admit that during the actual run of Buffy, I only saw two episodes (One dull, one VERY good!) and didn't think much of it at the time. Recently, I attended a couple of parties and realized that nearly everyone I know can sing along word-for-word to "Once Again With Feeling." I mentioned it to a couple of friends, who then loaned me the entire series (and all of "Angel") on DVD and I'm absolutely floored!

I'm on disc three of season six and it seems like the show just gets better and better! It does seem that after the story arc with Glory, season six is starting off a bit slow, but it's really great watching the characters grow and learn as the show digs deeper into them and I'm really looking forward to finishing the series off. Unfortunately, I found out about the Buffy/Angel crossovers to late to view them properly, but I just love the concept! I just wish they could have kept Seth Green in longer as he's one of my favorite actors... How can you not like Scott Evil?!?

And since those same fans loaned me the entire series of "Firefly," I'm also a serious convert to the work of Joss Whedon! And as a long-time Yes fan, I loved the fact that his production company's name came from one of their best songs!

Just wanted to say "hi" and I look forward to digging through some of the threads on this Tribe.

in the episodes at the beginning of season 6, where the scoobies are planning to raise Buffy from the dead and then do, what the hell is up with everyone wearing numbers? Xander is wearing a shirt with huge 13, Willow is wearing a shirt with a huge 11, and later Dawn is wearing a shirt with a number 9.

now given that there are so few characters per scene and a tv wardrobe department carefully plans costumes for each episode, I don't believe this is some kind of coincidence. like, the intern planned the clothes that week and was just digging big number shirts or something. best I can figure they were trying to indicate the gap Buffy left? like there's a space between each character -- Dawn... Willow... Xander -- and Buffy is the 10 & 12 that would fill in the blanks, so to speak.

it's a silly thing, but being visually obsessive, this has made me crazy wondering. ;)

That part left me a little confused.
At its Wizard World Los Angeles panel on Saturday, IDW announced that Whedon will co-write an Angel series that picks up where the television series ended.

"They will definitely be canon," said IDW Publishing's publisher and editor-in-chief Chris Ryall.

The new Angel book will be co-written by Brian Lynch. An artist and launch date have not been determined, although Ryall said it would not being until after the Spike: Shadow Puppets series

Buffy Movies Straight To DVD ?
From Scifi.com - By Webmaster - 2005-10-27

Marti Noxon, executive producer of UPN’s Buffy the Vampire Slayer in its last seasons, told SCI FI Wire that the popular series’ characters may live on in direct-to-DVD movies. "There are serious discussions going on about bringing some of the characters back and making a few movies that will go straight to DVD, but they will certainly be the quality they have always been," Noxon said in an interview. Continued fan interest in a big-budget Buffy film has led creator Joss Whedon to consider a series of movies that would focus on some of the secondary characters, she added.

"Joss is the king of jumping mediums, so it is an obvious step for him to do this," Noxon said. She said that a few of the show’s past writers, such as Drew Goddard, have been contacted about turning in script ideas that would center on the minor characters. But Noxon said that she doubts that star Sarah Michelle Gellar would reprise her role as Buffy and added that she thought it might be tough to persuade Alyson Hannigan to return as Willow. Both Gellar and Hannigan have moved on to film roles, and Hannigan is now a regular on the hit CBS sitcom How I Met Your Mother.

But Noxon said that a film centered on James Marsters’ Spike or David Boreanaz’s Angel could do very well. (Marsters currently has a recurring role on The WB’s Smallville, while Boreanaz is a regular on Fox’s Bones.)

At the moment, Noxon said she isn’t involved in writing any of the DVD movie scripts, but that she could be in the future. (Noxon is currently a consulting producer on Fox’s Prison Break.) "If I get involved it would be for the Buffy-related films, not Angel, because I’m far more plugged into Buffy," she said.

I've been re-watching Angel Season 2 and Buffy Season 5, and something is unresolved in my tiny brain.

After Angel got re-ensouled, Darla threw him out and was disqusted that he ate vermin etc. But that was in Romania in 1880-something. Right? During the Boxer Rebellion of 1900, he saves some missionaries and again earns her wrath. How is it that he pals around with them (Darla, Dru and Spike)for 20 years from Romania to China, and he's all tormented from his past crimes? Anyone have an answer? Even if the curse took effect in 1890 something, it still doesn't make sense to me.
The Mission's movie listing is here:
(Although the week I went, they were actually a week late -- they showed the episodes that'd been advertised the week before.)

I run a small BtVSRPG, and that'd be a hot weapon... but I can't find reference to it in the books. Anybody know if it's ever been used?
