Comrades:
Okay, I'm sure this has been discussed before. Please direct me to the link, and I'll find solace.
I'm watching Season 6 again and wondering who was Buffy's replacement after she dies in The Gift? Even when she died for a second at the Master's hands, Kendra was called up. Then Kendra died and Faith appeared. BUT, no next slayer after Buffy was in the ground a whole summer!

Re: Season Six Question
Sat, April 19, 2008 - 10:21 AMI think because Faith was still in some ways an "Active" slayer they had no new one to activate. Also the watchers weren't doing so well by that time I mean Buffy had told them to sod off and was basically ignoring them and then in season 7, well anyway.
Of course it could be cause they messed that up! ;-)

Re: Season Six Question
Sat, April 19, 2008 - 5:50 PMYes it has been asked before.... let's see if I remember the Joss logic. Kendra was called because Buffy died. Faith was called because Kendra died. Because Faith is still alive, no need to call a new slayer. Buffy apparently once dead was taken out of the slayer regeneration line. Thus no additional slayer after she died again.
I think that's how they explained it. -

Re: Season Six Question
Sat, April 19, 2008 - 10:24 PMthis is also how I've understood it.
and yet....
in season 7 it's stated over and over that if buffy dies, one of the potentials will become a slayer.
In general when questioned about inconsistencies Joss Whedon says that what's important is how the details serve the plot and metaphor. In season 7 it's important that the potentials actually have potential, so the rules are revised. -
