a backup Buffy, should tribe go *boom*

topic posted Fri, November 16, 2007 - 1:28 PM by  Ms.Dynomite
since it seems Tribe's days are numbered and it would suck to lose fun places like this and the people in them, I've been making some "backup" sites to retreat to should Tribe just finally kick it. Or if folks want a place to chat during the donut times.

So I've created a Buffverse discussion Group as part of the larger Tribe Refugees network:
Buffverse 2: triberefugees.ning.com/group/buffyverse
Tribe Refugees: triberefugees.ning.com/

You need to first signup for the site (Tribe Refugees), then join the Group (Buffyverse -- which is just a matter of clicking the Join Now link).
If you want more info on what Tribe Refugees is see this listing here: tucson.tribe.net/listing/j...3c90c9a672

The site/group was intended to support this tribe, NOT compete or detract from it. I just thought you guys might like to know about it so you can bookmark it, or signup to squat your space, or participate. :)

Tribe days being number is not confirmed yet it sounds more like they may be going the Live Journal route by offering pay memberships.
They told a friend of mine they will be making an annoucement soon about what is going on.

I hope that's the case. :) As far as the days being numbered... that's just the impression I've seen among membres. And since there's been no info from Tribe itself (I have yet to have a post or email replied to) many people have been left wondering. After the situation the past month where there were outages every week for several days at a time many folks I know started making back up plans... profiles on facebook, exchanging email addy's etc. figure it can't hurt to have an alternate resource should this cease to exist, or cease to be stable. :) I've made some great connections here, I'd hate to lose them.

Here is what my friend posted it isn't a clearing up of the rumors completely but it does say they understand folks are concerned...

I contacted a member of the tribe staff and asked the question.. here are the results.

        TRIBE BIG WIG
I can't comment on what we are going to do, but ever since the site stability started becoming an issue we've had a LOT of users volunteering to give us money on a monthly basis -- the number is such that it's gotten our attention.

We are writing a newsletter for November/December, we will probably answer all questions like this in that document.

ooh. it's great to know there's a newsletter coming out for Nov/Dec. Though since we're nearing the end of Nov, I'm guessing Dec. is more llikely. I wish they'd at least announce that there's info coming in their blog. It would put a lot of people more at ease. It's the wall of silence that has many spooked and bailing for elsewhere.

ust a reminder that when Tribe.net is down (like it was the past 2 days) you can head on over to the Buffyverse II Group on Tribe Refugees and chat there. either continue an interrupted thread or just shoot the shite. no need to stop yer playalicious posting. ;) Things seem to be looking up for Tribe.net, but it's nice to have an alternate place to chat and ask questions during the down times. Several of us Buffy fans are already there.
