Meaning of earthquakes

We had a pretty decent quake yesterday - seemed like it went on for a looong time.

Amidst random thoughts like, "Hmm, this is going on for a long time, I wonder if I should stand under the doorway" and "If the Golden Gate Bridge came down, how would I get home? Or get to work?"

I also thought,
"Does this mean The Master has risen again?"

Who else is gonna understand but you guys!?

    Hahahahaha...ya know, I thought along the same lines while it was still rolling. I was still at work, and we have plenty of things I can build a flame thrower out of...not that I was going to build one of those, just in case. :^)

      LOL OK that is hilarious I didn't even go there but then I was in the movie theater watching Nightmare Before X-mas in 3-d which was an interesting expeience even WITHOUT the quake!

        What I find hilarious is on tv shows where they try to convey an earthquake simply by having a rumbling sound and shaking the camera.

        I remember this ST:TNG episode where they were doing that, and it was ridiculous...the characters are all just standing there while the camera shakes. They're not falling over or trying to keep their footing, or dodging pieces of falling ceiling or toppling furniture, they're just standing there going, "The ground is shaking!"

          Well really most quakes are so short that is what it is like..you didn't always realize what hit until it was over. Hmm the ground is shaking, is that a truck or a quake?

          Hell even the 89 quake up in the Bay Area I had no idea it was all that bad until I got home because I was living in an area less affected than the rest of the Bay Area. The sidewalk rippled though and that was cool as hell!
